Water Distribution Maintenance Worker (Civil Service Examination)

WATER DISTRIBUTION MAINTENANCE WORKER

The City of Dubuque, Iowa invites applications for the position of Water Distribution Maintenance Worker. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing and supervising a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the construction, maintenance, inspection, testing, preparation and installation of water mains, service lines, fire hydrants, valves and meters in the water distribution system and in the implementation of the backflow prevention program. The successful candidate will possess some experience in the operation of automotive, construction and specialized equipment used in the maintenance, repair and operation of a water distribution system; some experience in the repair, installation, inspection, testing and maintenance of water meter and backflow prevention devices; some plumbing experience; experience working with a diverse workforce; a high school diploma or its equivalent; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the essential knowledge, skills and ability. The successful candidate will also possess a demonstrated ability to follow a management philosophy that is input oriented and values equity, problem solving and the development of partnerships and a desire to be part of an organization that values service, people, integrity, responsibility, innovation and teamwork.
