Fisheries Technician

PWSAC's hatcheries are large scale production facilities that release approximately 600 million salmon smolt into Alaskan waters to benefit all fishing user groups and stabilize wild salmon stocks.

This position is located at a remote, off-the-grid facility in pristine Alaska wilderness (Prince William Sound). Lodging and food provided for temporary employees on site for the duration of employment. Due to the remoteness of the facilities, there is limited internet connectivity and very limited cell reception.

Entry level wage begins at $10/hr (DOE). Education in relevant field and previous fish or hatchery experience may qualify for higher Fisheries Technician levels.

Applicants chosen for hire are responsible for coordinating their own transportation to Cordova, Alaska.

Work performed at any hatchery or remote location as needed. Must be able to move about freely; work outdoors in all weather conditions; ability to lift and carry 50 pounds; ability to climb stairs and ladders; ability to climb aboard and about vessels and small aircraft; work around water – on docks and floats; use telephones and computers unimpaired. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language. Must be able to hear and see to receive verbal and written instructions.
