Nonprofit Leadership/Volunteer Coordinator Intern

Position Summary:  
Works with the Volunteer Coordinator and the Assistant Volunteer Coordinator in the entire scope of services and support for the 600+ seasonal volunteers. The successful candidate will obtain a comprehensive look at a major non-profit organization, be involved in virtually all of the major departments and receive “hands-on”, practical exposure to a highly effective organization and program. Lastly, the candidate will be able to spend the summer experiencing the “magic of Medora”, living and working in ND’s #1 tourist destination.  
Volunteer Program Summary:
The Medora volunteer program, now in its 21st year, utilizes volunteers from across the country. The main season consists of 24 volunteers changing every seven (7) days. Selected volunteers receive training, supervision and support in their performance of a multitude of duties, serving hundreds of thousands of guests and visitors. Medora’s volunteers work across the entire spectrum of the venues and services delivered by the Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation (TRMF) in Medora, ND. 
Essential Job Functions:  
  • Assist in preparing materials for volunteers’ arrival and orientation
  • Assist in maintaining records of volunteers
  • Assist in supporting volunteers at their various locations
  • Assist in organizing and preparing for weekly wrap-up meetings
  • Attend initial orientation meetings
  • Attend weekly wrap-up meetings
  • Track materials needed by volunteers at the various work sites
  • Write, send and maintain a weekly log of “Thank-You” cards sent to volunteers following their volunteer week
  • Track and maintain a record of volunteer housing key check-in and check-out
Other Responsibilities:

Qualifications and Education Requirements: 
Experienced and/or interested in fields related to Non Profit, Community Based management and programs , Human Resources 
Must have a valid driver’s license
 Must be comfortable driving large vehicles 
Supervision:  
 This is not a supervisory role. 
 This position reports to the Development Department.
