Thai CDC Farmers' Market Sustainability & Integration Project

The Thai Community Development Center (Thai CDC) “advances the social and economic well-being of low- and moderate-income individuals in the greater Los Angeles area through a broad and comprehensive community development strategy including human rights advocacy, affordable housing, access to healthcare, promotion of small businesses, neighborhood empowerment and social enterprises.” Founded in 1994, Thai CDC makes a difference with projects that address the health, housing, and employment needs of disadvantaged members of our community. These projects include our farmers’ markets, affordable multi-family and senior housing, services for victims of human trafficking, business counseling and entrepreneurship training, homeownership and rental housing counseling, legal services, services to victims of sexual assault and domestic violence, parent education, and affordable health insurance enrollment. Thai CDC is located in Hollywood, Los Angeles, adjacent to Thai Town.

This position will assist in developing the sustainability of the East Hollywood Certified Farmers’ Markets through marketing, vendor recruitment, and integration with Thai CDC’s social enterprise and business incubator project, the Thai Town Marketplace. Opening in November 2018, the Thai Town Marketplace will coalesce with the farmers’ markets. The VISTA will be responsible for helping develop the infrastructure for the Thai Town Marketplace to oversee the farmers’ markets. 

Thai CDC is seeking an individual with superior organizational skills and strict attention to detail; excellent interpersonal, oral and written communications; proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and social media platforms including Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram; self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team; and the ability to proactively prioritize competing demands.
