Audio Intern

Our audio interns are extremely critical to the successful operating facility we have here at NoiseFloor. Not only will an audio intern be exposed to all roles - including Producing, Sound Design, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, Recording, Music Composition, Music Licensing, Voice-Over Casting, and Foley - they will also have the opportunity to build long-lasting industry connections while continuing their education outside of the classroom setting. We give you the opportunity to receive a vast overview of the workflow of an audio facility, but it is up to the intern to take advantage of it.

Learning Objectives:
  • Producing and Post Production Sound Coordination - learning how the producing team communicates to clients, fulfills client requests by relaying to sound team in a way that allows team to meet clients creative needs, by the deadline and staying within the budgetary needs
  • Sound Design- learning how to use creative skills to build a sound palette that will exceed client expectations.
  • SFX Library - learning how to enter concise and useful metadata for unique recordings while staying organized
  • Mixing - learning how to mix layers of audio for different outputs and mediums such as TV, Radio, Film, Video Games, and Web
  • Location / Production Sound - learning how to prep a variety of sound gear packages (mixers, recorders, microphones) and record at the highest quality of audio for various scopes of work (single person interview, multi-person interview, b-roll, live performances)
An audio intern’s day consists of completing various client service duties, assisting staff with small assignments, and observing audio sessions. This includes stocking refrigerators, picking up lunches for clients, running errands, and assisting upkeep of inventory and the equipment cage. Whether it’s sitting in with the composer while they compose jingles, watching an audio engineer record voice over for a commercial, recording sfx for a sound designer, being the foley artist for a short film, or experimenting with the digital audio workstation, he or she can make the most of the internship by utilizing free time obtaining the most hands on experience as possible.

The qualifications for the position are a love for post-production audio work, two days open a week to dedicate to NoiseFloor and the ability to take charge.

NoiseFloor’s internship program is designed to have one to three interns per session. Depending on the intern and our availability, the intern works 2-3 days a week. The intern will work 8 hours a day (9am - 5pm) with 1/2 hour for lunch. Internships are unpaid, but we can try our best to help a student meet qualifications in order to gain school credit for completing the internship. If selected, it is in your best interest to discuss with your school’s internship coordinator prior to the internship start date whether or not it will count as eligible credit.

Audio Interns will report to Noisefloor's internship coordination team
