Equalization Administrative Assistant

SALARY: $17.98 - $19.37/Hour OPENING DATE: 12/3/18 CLOSING DATE: 12/21/18 at 5:00 PM
GENERAL INFORMATION:
The Minnehaha County Equalization Office invites applications for an Equalization Administrative Assistant to join our team of professionals in early 2019. If you enjoy delivering extraordinary customer service and have top notch communication skills to perform clerical and administrative detail work relating to the appraisal of real property for tax purposes, this is the perfect opportunity for you.

This position is classified as a Senior Property Technician. 
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES INCLUDE:
Maintain, verify, and update routine and specialized reports and records of a moderately technical nature including sales ratio and abstract reports. Compile, tabulate and organize data for reports and records. Complete and distribute appropriate documents and forms. Calculate square footage and front foot measurements from plat maps, splits, property descriptions, etc. Coordinate with appraisers in the calculating of new property values from field data by referring to appropriate schedules. Research and add numbers and map numbers to building permits. Record information. Update, track, calculate change, and research information for various office functions including sales, exempt properties, owner occupied, abatements, transfer of titles, new property plats or property splits, building permits, mobile homes, tax exempt property, etc. Answer phones and greet and assist walk in customers. Process questions from the public and outside agencies regarding property, forms, building information, taxes, etc. by mail, fax, email, phone, and in person. Schedule board meetings with small towns and townships. Coordinate and schedule local boards with City of Sioux Falls, school districts, and Counties. Schedule taxpayer appointments. Maintain abandoned cemetery records. Process and verify office vouchers. Process billing and collections for individual accounts. Balance cash received against receipts. Provide notary public services for the general public. 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED plus three years of progressively responsible clerical experience. Comparable combination of education and experience may be considered. Must be eligible to be commissioned as a Notary Public. Considerable knowledge of modern office practices. Skill in operating a keyboard with accuracy at a reasonable speed. Ability to operate standard office equipment. Ability to read and interpret complex written instructions, legal descriptions, regulations, and state law. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public. Ability to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.  
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience reading and interpreting legal descriptions, plats, and assessments.
