Position Overview:

The Systems Engineer, Infrastructure role works in our Information Technology department to ensure that our technology services and infrastructure equipment throughout the company are operating at peak performance. There is a heavy emphasis on collaboration with others in IT, development teams and others throughout TechSmith to maintain the health of our applications, both internal and customer-facing. 

Responsibilities:

  • Integrate infrastructure builds and application deployment processes
  • Develop, design and analyze automation scripts and processes
  • Monitoring the health of systems and services to report back to and collaborate with development teams
  • Responding to internal help tickets and requests
  • Documenting IT systems and processes
  • Assisting with the maintenance and implementation of systems, services and applications for the operations of IT infrastructure
  • Provision, configure and maintain resources in Cloud, including service instances, load balancers, security groups, DNS, certificates and more
  • Build and design solutions that mitigate risk and increase efficiencies within IT
  • 24-hour on-call rotation responsibilities are required

Required Skills and Background:

  • Minimum of 3 years of Windows operation systems experience
  • Minimum experience of 3 years developing and maintaining monitoring and alerting strategies for infrastructure and Software-as-a-Service offerings
  • Minimum of 6 months of experience of networking such as DNS, DHCP, IP, Firewall, Switching, Routing, and Load-Balancing
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work in both team environments and interact with all levels of management, external vendors and internal customers

Preferred Skills and Background:

  • Extensive knowledge of Linux operating systems
  • Extensive knowledge of the Microsoft Azure platform
  • Mac client experience
  • Experience deep-dive troubleshooting with engineers on applications using Platform-as-a-Service offerings leveraging internal/external tools
  • Experience in working directly with external customers
