Fixed Income Research Associate

The Department

Fidelity’s Fixed Income Division is one of the country’s leading fixed income managers with over $800 billion in fixed income assets managed by a staff of roughly 200 investment professionals. At Fidelity, we combine fundamental research on domestic and international debt issuers with macroeconomic and quantitative analysis to develop investment decisions aiming to maximize risk-adjusted total return for our clients. The Fixed Income Division is headquartered in Merrimack, New Hampshire.

The Position

The Fixed Income research associate program is designed to recruit talented, industrious undergraduates to support Fidelity’s bond and money market investment process and train them with the foundational skills to launch successful careers in finance and investing.  Each applicant will be competing for a role on a research team focused on one of the following: municipal, financial, industrial or macro research.  Associates will be trained to analyze the credit quality of individual issuers as well as the structural features of securities in the bond and money markets through a formal training program and through direct mentoring by senior analysts.  Associates will work closely with experienced analysts to learn how to build financial models and to develop credit opinions and investment recommendations. In close collaboration with senior analysts, associates will participate in meetings with bond issuers, credit rating agencies, sell-side research analysts, investment bankers and other market participants.  Associates can expect to interact regularly with senior analysts, portfolio managers and traders and play an integral role in the Fidelity investment process.  Our investment process is heavily team-based and the successful associate will contribute regularly and effectively to group activities.

Participation in the Fixed Income research associate program may last up to four years.  The associate experience provides an opportunity for successful applicants to build a unique skill set positioning them for more senior roles within Fidelity and the asset management industry or to attend top graduate programs.
