Utility Worker (Civil Service Examination)

The City of Dubuque, Iowa invites applications for the position of Utility Worker. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating a variety of light and medium road and construction equipment and trucks and performing skilled and semi-skilled work in the construction and maintenance of public works facilities such as streets, sewers, alleys and walks. The successful candidate will possess some experience in the operation of light and medium road and construction equipment and trucks; some experience in the construction, maintenance and repair of streets and sewers; experience working with a diverse workforce; a high school diploma or its equivalent, or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the essential knowledge, skills and abilities. The successful candidate will also possess a demonstrated ability to follow a management philosophy that is input oriented and values equity, problem solving and the development of partnerships and a desire to be part of an organization that values service, people, integrity, responsibility, innovation and teamwork.
