Seidman College of Business Dean's Office - Student Office Assistant

The Seidman College of Business Dean’s Office is seeking a student worker to fill a Student Office Assistant position. The person selected will provide administrative support to the office and works under the supervision of the Office Coordinator and other staff or faculty members that may require additional support. Seidman operates its programs year-round, so there may be the possibility for additional hours during normal GVSU closure periods (i.e. holiday breaks). Total number of hours per week will be between 10-20 hours, Monday through Friday.

Dean’s Office Hours
8:00am – 5:00pm Monday through Friday

Preferred Skills
  • Knowledge of Windows 10, Microsoft Office 2016, GVSU Banner, Access, web browsers, data analytics, etc.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, professional
  • The ability to work independently given departmental policies and guidelines
  • Have excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Integrity, punctuality and dependability

Job duties include
  • Customer service
o  Greeting/assisting walk-ins
o  Answering phones promptly
  • Photocopying/collating/scanning documents
  • Data entry
  • Assisting in maintaining records and filing system
  • Assisting with maintaining/updating Seidman College of Business and department websites
  • Maintaining bulletin boards and helping with posters/flyers
  • Making deliveries around campus
  • Sorting mail
  • Assisting with events
o  Various tasks preparing for or during the event (Peter F. Secchia Breakfast Lectures, Seidman Alumni Socials, other miscellaneous events)
  • Assisting in writing various articles for the Seidman online newsletter
  • Assisting the Associate Dean with data collection and creating charts
  • Taking inventory of Seidman merchandise
  • Other duties as assigned
