Position Summary

The Quality Intern will support key initiatives within Neogen Quality while gaining hands-on experience in a professional laboratory, manufacturing, or operational environment. Interns will apply classroom knowledge to real business challenges, collaborate with experienced professionals, and develop practical skills in quality systems, data analysis, problem-solving, and communication.

Candidates may be considered for one of three internship opportunities based on academic background, interests, location, and business needs:

Sample Collection Quality Intern | Lexington, Kentucky

Support a project and day-to-day activities related to sample collection processes. Potential focus areas may include reviewing workflows, observing and documenting process steps, evaluating data or trends, supporting standard work or procedure updates, and identifying opportunities to improve consistency, efficiency, traceability, and/or quality.

Immunodiagnostics Quality Control Intern | Lansing, Michigan

Support a project and daily activities within Immunodiagnostics Quality Control. Potential focus areas may include laboratory data review, test method or workflow evaluation, documentation improvements, trend analysis, investigation support, and opportunities to improve laboratory efficiency, consistency, or compliance.

Animal Safety Quality Intern | Lexington or another Neogen Animal Safety site (Randolph or Pleasantville)

Support a project and day-to-day quality activities within the Animal Safety business. Potential focus areas may include quality data analysis, process or documentation improvements, investigation and corrective action support, audit readiness, standardization, or other site quality priorities.

Supply Quality Intern | Location based on business needs

Support a project and day-to-day activities within Supply Quality. Potential focus areas may include supplier quality assessments, supplier and material risk assessments, quality data and performance trend analysis, supplier documentation review, corrective action support, and opportunities to strengthen supplier qualification, monitoring, or continuous improvement processes.

Internship Project

Each intern will work on a structured project aligned with the needs of the assigned Quality team. The final project scope may be refined before the internship begins. Projects are intended to:

• Address a meaningful business need and support a current Quality priority
• Use data, observation, or structured problem-solving to develop insights and recommendations
• Be achievable within the summer internship timeframe
• Provide exposure to cross-functional collaboration
• Result in a final presentation, recommendation, or other practical deliverable

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in departmental projects and day-to-day Quality activities
• Collect, organize, and analyze data; summarize findings clearly
• Review processes, procedures, or documentation and recommend improvements
• Conduct research and prepare reports, presentations, or project materials
• Participate in team meetings, project discussions, and learning activities
• Collaborate with Quality, Operations, Laboratory, and other cross-functional partners as appropriate
• Present project findings and recommendations at the conclusion of the internship
• Complete additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science, Animal Science, Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Laboratory Science, Engineering, Quality, or a related field
• Strong communication, organization, and attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint
• Ability to analyze information, manage priorities, and follow through on assignments
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

Preferred

• Interest in a career in Quality, laboratory operations, food safety, animal health, manufacturing, or a related field
• Coursework or experience involving laboratory methods, data analysis, statistics, quality systems, or process improvement
• Previous internship, research, project, or leadership experience
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
