Heartland Hospice is seeking compassionate and dependable volunteers who would like to make a meaningful difference in the lives of hospice patients and their families.
Our Patient Care Volunteers provide companionship, emotional support, and a caring presence to patients living with a life-limiting illness. Volunteers are an important part of the hospice team and can bring comfort, connection, and companionship to patients and their loved ones.
Volunteer Activities May Include
● Visiting and spending quality time with hospice patients
● Providing companionship and friendly conversation
● Reading books, magazines, newspapers, or inspirational materials to patients
● Listening to music or watching television with patients
● Playing cards, board games, or participating in appropriate activities
● Providing a comforting and supportive presence
● Sitting with patients so caregivers can take a brief break
● Writing letters or helping patients stay connected with loved ones
● Providing emotional and social support to patients and families
● Participating in approved activities based on the patient’s interests and abilities
No Medical Experience Required
Who We Are Looking For
Ideal volunteers are compassionate, patient, dependable, respectful, and comfortable spending time with individuals and families receiving hospice care. Volunteers must respect patient privacy and confidentiality and follow all hospice policies and volunteer guidelines.
