                                     BIOWATCH PROGRAM MANAGER

ST. CHARLES COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT

DIVISION OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT

 

Starting Salary:          $79,140.98 per year 

 

This is a full-time position, 40 hours/week, which includes a full range of benefits, including Paid Time Off, Extended Medical Leave, Holidays, Employee Health, Dental, Life, Disability, Retirement, and Tuition Assistance programs.

 

JOB OVERVIEW: The purpose of this position is to supervise projects associated with an environmental program in the areas of air quality, asbestos management, vector control, waste management and/or environmental public health.

  • Oversee the quality assurance and documentation on air monitoring instrumentation such as calibration, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairing, or replacing to assure proper functioning, validity, and continuity of recorded air-monitoring data. 

 

  • Plan, direct and coordinate program activities, including coordinating investigations, monitoring results, implementing remedial actions and reporting program results.

 

  • Coordinate the enforcement of laws, statutes, regulations, program policies and procedures.

 

  • Perform project administration, including planning and tracking expenditures, monitoring contracts and preparing required reports.

 

  • Promote a variety of programs and environmental protection projects, communicate exposures and risks and serve as technical expert to the public.

 

  • Properly wear and maintain all required PPE in accordance with organizational policies and applicable safety regulations.

 

  • Conduct routine inspections of PPE to ensure it is in safe, functional condition; report damaged or missing equipment promptly.

 

  • Ensure appropriate PPE is used for each task, including identifying hazards and selecting the correct level of protection. 

 

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve equipment issues using appropriate tools, testing devices, and technical documentation. 

 

  • Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and functional testing of equipment to minimize downtime. 

 

  • Document issues, corrective actions, and maintenance activities accurately in logs or systems. 

 

  • Ensure all tools and troubleshooting equipment are maintained, calibrated, and stored properly. 

 

  • Escalate complex or unresolved issues to appropriate personnel while providing detailed findings.

 

  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

 

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, mathematics, chemistry, natural science, or related field. 

 

  • Job Experience
    • A minimum of 5 years' experience is required.

 

  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities
    • A valid motor vehicle operator’s license with a satisfactory driving record is required. 

 

  • Employment is contingent on successfully passing a full criminal background check.
