Community Engagement & Partnerships Intern

For His Glory Ministry (FHGM)
Location: Zeeland, MI (City on a Hill) with local travel throughout West Michigan
Position Type: Part-Time Internship (10–15 hours/week)
Reports To: Executive Assistant & Recovery Program Director

Position Summary

The Community Engagement & Partnerships Intern will help expand the impact of For His Glory Ministry by building meaningful relationships throughout West Michigan. This hands-on internship offers experience in nonprofit leadership, community outreach, fundraising, event planning, communications, and ministry.

The intern will work alongside ministry leadership while also managing independent projects that contribute directly to FHGM's mission of bringing hope, healing, and restoration through Jesus Christ.

This internship is ideal for students pursuing degrees in Communications, Marketing, Business, Nonprofit Management, Public Relations, Ministry, Human Services, Social Work, or Event Management.

Primary Responsibilities

Community Partnerships

  • Research and identify prospective business, church, and community partners.
  • Meet with local businesses to share FHGM's mission and partnership opportunities.
  • Assist with sponsorship and donation requests.
  • Build and maintain relationships with current ministry partners.
  • Represent FHGM professionally within the community.

Fundraising & Events

  • Assist with planning and executing fundraising events.
  • Coordinate volunteers before and during ministry events.
  • Help secure auction donations and sponsorships.
  • Assist with event logistics, setup, registration, and hospitality.

Marketing & Communications

  • Create social media content highlighting ministry impact.
  • Capture photos and videos at ministry events.
  • Assist with newsletters, email campaigns, and promotional materials.
  • Share stories that demonstrate the life-changing work of FHGM.

Administrative Support

  • Maintain donor and partnership records.
  • Prepare thank-you letters and recognition materials.
  • Organize outreach materials and ministry resources.
  • Assist with special projects as assigned.

Internship Projects

Throughout the internship, the Community Engagement Intern will take ownership of several measurable projects, including:

Community Partnership Initiative

Develop relationships with local businesses, churches, and organizations with the goal of establishing 10 new community business partners who actively support FHGM through sponsorships, donations, volunteer involvement, or collaborative opportunities.

Community Outreach Project

Research underserved areas or organizations within West Michigan and develop an outreach strategy to introduce FHGM's services to new audiences.

Event Leadership

Serve on the leadership team for a ministry event by coordinating a specific area such as volunteers, sponsorships, silent auction donations, hospitality, marketing, or guest experience.

Storytelling Initiative

Collect testimonies, photos, and ministry stories that demonstrate FHGM's impact and help strengthen future fundraising, grant writing, and community awareness efforts.

Final Presentation

At the conclusion of the internship, present accomplishments, lessons learned, project outcomes, and recommendations for future community engagement initiatives.

  • Passion for serving others and advancing Christ-centered ministry.
  • Growing relationship with Jesus Christ and support for FHGM's mission.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable initiating conversations with community members and business leaders.
  • Organized and able to manage multiple projects.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and social media platforms.
  • Reliable transportation for local travel.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds during event setup.
