Marketing & Communications Intern, Remote

About the National Violence Prevention Hotline

The National Violence Prevention Hotline (NVPH) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives and preventing violence through free, confidential, and compassionate support. We provide crisis intervention, emotional support, safety planning, and resource navigation for individuals affected by violence, while advancing public awareness, education, and prevention initiatives that strengthen communities nationwide.

Position Overview

NVPH is seeking a creative and mission-driven Marketing & Communications Intern to support public awareness and digital engagement efforts. This role will focus on creating engaging content for social media platforms, including TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts, while helping communicate violence prevention resources and organizational initiatives to diverse audiences.

The intern will gain hands-on experience in nonprofit communications, digital marketing, and public health messaging while contributing to initiatives that support violence prevention and crisis intervention.

This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Public Health, or related fields.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create engaging short-form video content for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts
  • Ability to translate complex or sensitive topics into clear, engaging, and health literacy, appropriate content while maintaining accuracy and empathy.
  • Design graphics and digital content using Canva or similar platforms
  • Assist with planning and implementing social media campaigns
  • Write captions, newsletters, and other communications materials
  • Monitor engagement metrics and identify opportunities to improve outreach
  • Research digital marketing trends and emerging social media strategies
  • Collaborate with team members to increase awareness of NVPH's services and mission

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Public Health, Digital Media, or related fields
  • Strong written communication and creative storytelling skills
  • Experience creating content for social media platforms
  • Familiarity with Canva, CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools is preferred
  • Interest in public health communication, social impact, or nonprofit work
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred)

 

Work Location: Remote (United States)

Time Commitment: Approximately 10–15 hours per week

Compensation: This is an unpaid internship. Academic credit may be available through your college or university.
