Laboratory Technician

Job Summary:  

Primary duty will be to assist/lead morning sample check in: unloads samples from coolers, organizes and checks sample temperature and pH, processes samples into LIMS, prints labels to samples, racks samples in proper storage bins, cleans sample check-in after morning task is complete, sends email confirmation for cooler pickup, prints and labels coolers and/or supplies for delivery. 

Job duties include:  

Assists with morning sample check in: unloads samples from coolers, organizes and checks sample temperature and pH, processes samples into LIMS, prints and adheres labels to samples, racks samples in proper storage bins, cleans sample check-in area after morning task is complete, sends email confirmation for cooler pickup to courier, prints and labels coolers and/or supplies for delivery; prepares TP/TKN digestion tubes and BOD bottles for analytical samples. 

Lab maintenance and housekeeping; performs cooler clean out and sample dump; recycles plastic sample bottles; performs sample dump for metals; changes out broken glass bin; recycles glass containers; dumps analyst reagent waste; cleans and organizes cylinder/cooler storage room. 

Document processing: files rerun documentation, pulls approved files for review; scans procurement receiving and certificate of analysis documents. 

Performs safety checks for eyewashes, showers, and fire extinguishers. 

 

Minimum Qualifications:  

A high school diploma or G.E.D. and 8 months of laboratory experience; formal education containing laboratory course work may substitute for work experience. (Bachelor’s degree in natural sciences preferred).

Working Conditions:  

Work in a lab wearing a lab coat, gloves, and eye protection; lift and carry approximately 50 pounds; safely handle toxic and hazardous chemicals. 

 

Additional Details:  

Starting Salary Range:  $38,188.80 - $47,736.00 

Starting salary is based on qualifications and experience.
