Electrician - WY-2805-10

- Without direct supervision, performs the installation, modification, testing, maintenance and repair of the following electrical equipment and/or systems: A.C., D.C. electric motors of all types and sizes (up to 350 H.P.), motor controllers of all types, motor protection and feeder systems, and motor drive systems of all types; single phase and three phase transformer banks up to 2500 KVA in size; power substations (up to 3000 KVA) including switchboards, protective relaying, high voltage circuit breakers and instrumentation; high voltage and low voltage underground power distribution systems; building interior wiring and lighting systems; extensive lighting systems; complex lock operations equipment control systems, automatic relay control systems, and solid state switching and control systems; marine electrical power, equipment land based and shipboard; engine driven generators up to 1500 KW in size. Heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems, electric equipment in a 21 MW, hydroelectric generating plant, low voltage circuit breakers 1200 Amp in size, high voltage circuit breakers 250,000 KVA in size, AC alternators 5,333 KVA in size, D.C. exciters up to 80 KW in size and the usual protective relaying, instrumentation and control equipment found in a hydroelectric power plant. Duties include high voltage cable splicing

- Without direct supervision operates, during normal and emergency situations 3500KW power distribution system consisting of miles of underground high voltage and low voltage breakers, 11 primary power substations (with switchboards, circuit breakers, protective relaying, etc.) up to 3000 KVA in size, transformer banks up to 2500 KVA in size, a 1500KW emergency generation station and extensive area lighting systems totaling 180 KW. Tests and repairs lock operations support equipment such as secondary distribution switchboards sump pump systems, dewatering pump systems, etc. Tests and repairs all lock operations equipment including lock gates, booms and hydroelectric generator and associated equipment during emergency situations.

- Installs, repairs, and maintains facility-wide LAN wiring, telephone wiring, and installation and termination of fiber optic cable and associated hardware.

- Participates in a callback emergency service program by being available during designated periods of time to answer trouble calls on nights, weekends, and holidays, working to restore normal operation with a minimum of delay. Calls upon Section Chief or electrician supervisor when serious breakdowns occur.
