Position Summary
Evaluates, plans, and administers medically prescribed physical therapy treatments for patients with injuries or muscle, nerve, joint, and bone conditions. The goal is to improve or restore function, increase strength, relieve pain, and enhance independence. Direct patient care staff must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program
- Licensed Physical Therapist in good standing with the State of Michigan
- BLS certification required within 3 months of hire
- Valid Michigan driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance (required for Bronson at Home coverage)
- Keyboarding and basic computer skills
- Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Frequent standing and walking
- Regular lifting of up to 20 lbs and assisting with heavier patient‑handling tasks
- Occasional mental/visual fatigue due to varied duties and deadlines
- Up to 40 percent of time using a computer or mobile device
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
- Interpret and implement referrals; evaluate functional abilities using standardized assessments
- Establish treatment plans, goals, and estimated length of care
- Provide direct patient care, including individual and group therapy
- Educate patients, families, and the community
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and discussions
- Design and fabricate splints or assistive devices as needed
- Support program development and department process improvement
- Serve as a resource in areas of expertise and provide in‑services
- Cross‑train and provide coverage across Rehabilitation Services as needed
Administrative Duties
- Document evaluations, treatment plans, interventions, and progress in the electronic health record within required timelines
- Communicate any documentation barriers to leadership
- Maintain accurate, legible, and complete patient records
- Participate in committees, task forces, and process improvement initiatives
- Demonstrate effective time management
- Supervise PTAs, Rehab Clinical Assistants, PT and PTA students, volunteers, and athletic trainers
Bronson at Home Requirements (if applicable)
- Regular use of personal vehicle for business purposes
- Successful MVR check prior to start date
- Maintain valid auto insurance and provide updates as required
