Logistics Intern
Logistics Internship – Grand Rapids Michigan
Mill Steel Company is seeking an Logistics Intern for corporate headquarters in Grand Rapids, MI. As the intern, you will work with the logistics to ensure supplier and customer requirements. You must be a current student pursuing a Business Degree, with a sophomore or junior standing. This is a paid internship and we can work with your school schedule.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Assist in building a shipping and/or receiving schedule
- Production schedule maintenance
- Assist in dispatching truckloads to carriers
- Assist in tracking status of shipments
- Weekly reporting to management team
- Gain an understanding of cost performance review
- Assist in building carrier rapport
- Exploring freight opportunities with new and current carriers
- Participate in internship meetings, exercises and networking
- Other Projects as assigned
Requirements:
- Must be a current college student with an, at minimum, sophomore standing and available to work 15-20 hours per week, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8AM-5PM
- General Business, Management, or Supply Chain Management majors are preferred but not required.
- Must have strong communications skills.
- Must be able to think critically and work independently.
- The ideal candidate would be multi task oriented, self-motivated, meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
