Personal Trainer

POSITION TITLE: Personal Trainer (formerly Therapeutic Health 
Specialist)

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide an abundance of care through provision of Wellness Services. Will adhere to regular 
schedule and manage a client case load.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Lead innovative and intensive one-on-one specialized personal training with a wide 
variety of medical conditions. 
• Record treatment provided and equipment used to maintain a medical record of the 
session.
• Complete documentation point of service according to documentation policy.
• Executes company Key Performance and individual target metrics. 
• Collaborates and contributes with cooperation and a team approach with the 
multidisciplinary clinical team and fitness staff.
• Contributes energy, activity and participates actively in company meetings, strategic 
planning, and program development.
• Professional enhancement and skill development through active self-learning and 
obtaining advanced certifications.
• Supports mentorship of students and new employees as assigned. 
• Attentively provides high quality service to each client with involvement of appropriate 
staff members.
• Teach assigned group workshops and classes, including but not limited to, Parkinson’s 
Wellness and Recovery, Special Athletes Training, Stroke Fitness, Autism Fitness, HEAL
on and off campus.

• Great clients at the door and transport clients to and from treatment areas, using 
wheelchairs or providing standing support as needed.
• Assist with community events as assigned.
• Maintain full confidentiality of client records and information. HIPAA Training
• Supervise and direct intern students.
• Supervise and direct technicians.


QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree required in an exercise or health science field or 
associate degree with granted approval with 2+ years of satisfactory performance and 
experience as a technician at EA Therapeutic Health. Must have an approved 
certification as listed below.
• 1-year experience as a specialized CPT, EP, CTRS, CIFT, or 1-year experience as a 
technician at EA Therapeutic Health or similar facility. Promotion consideration will also 
be based on readiness for all other listed requirements and responsibilities of the trainer 
and position availability.
• Will provide on the job training for specialized medical fitness and neurologic recovery. 
An overall interest in the healthcare field is required. CPR and first aid required.
• Strength – Candidates must demonstrate sufficient upper body and trunk strength to 
assist with client lifting and completing locomotor training (assisted treadmill) skills. 
Must be willing to learn skills, receive feedback on technique, and deliver assistance
with treadmill training with no difficulties. Good flexibility and endurance strength 
required in all limbs and trunk to complete this task. 
• No previous injuries to back, shoulder, neck, or other musculoskeletal condition that 
may be exacerbated by lifting, pushing, pulling, or moving in a repetitive way.
• Personality preferred is one that is outgoing, positive, and innovative. EA Therapeutic

• Desire to engage in on-the-job training as well as ongoing learning both onsite and 
offsite or through use of online learning.


PHYSICAL DEMAND CAPACITY:
Consistent with published industry PDC norms or minimally:
• Requires manual dexterity and general strength and endurance.
• Lifting—routinely loads of 5-35 pounds from
• Floor to waist
• Waist to shoulder
• Shoulder to overhead
• Carrying—routinely loads of 5-10# for 40-50’

• Sustaining a grip---routinely for 1-2 minutes of 40-50# 
• Guarding a “lift load” routinely of 120-140#
