Swim Counselor
Located in the Adirondacks, Point O’Pines Camp for Girls is looking for a Swim Instructor to teach swimming, help campers build skills and confidence, and have fun on the lake. Swim Instructors may serve as in-bunk or out-of-bunk staff depending on camp needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and teach daily swimming lessons, focusing on skill development and safety.
- Adapt instruction for varying ages and ability levels.
- Promote water safety, proper use of life jackets, and good swimming habits.
- Supervise swimmers at all times to ensure safety and active participation.
- Organize and maintain swimming equipment and the waterfront area.
- Encourage campers to build confidence and enjoy time in the water.
- Participate in camp-wide activities and support special events as needed.
Qualifications
- Experience teaching swimming to children.
- Lifeguard certification and CPR/First Aid preferred (American Red Cross training will be held in staff orientation before camper arrival).
- Energetic, patient, and enthusiastic.
- Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Comfortable in a camp environment and working with groups of children.
Accommodation and food is provided throughout the duration of the summer. Travel reimbursement. This can also be a paid internship.
