Banquet Captain

A Day in the Life

The Banquet Captain oversees banquet functions and provides leadership and direction to banquet staff in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work directly with Banquet Staff, Banquet Manager, and Banquet Chef on preparation for upcoming events.
  • Supervise banquet staff during setup, execution, and cleanup of banquet events.
  • Communicate with client throughout the event to ensure all requests are met and to anticipate any additional needs.
  • Perform the duties, when needed, of Banquet Server, Banquet Bartender, Private Dining Server.
  • Hire, train and develop banquet staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 6 months experience in a banquet/catering service setting preferred.
  • Must have open availability to work mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to perform independently in a fast paced always changing environment.
  • Must be attentive to details.
  • Basic knowledge of audio-visual equipment.
  • Must have open availability to work night, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must obtain city and state alcohol permits; and food handler permit.
  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
