Job Summary
We are seeking a Manufacturing Quality Engineer to support product and process quality within our fabrication and manufacturing operations. This role works closely with fabrication leaders, operators, and cross‑functional teams to improve processes, ensure compliance, and drive continuous improvement across welded, machined, and assembled products. The ideal candidate is hands‑on, analytical, and comfortable translating quality requirements into practical shop‑floor solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with fabrication and manufacturing leaders to improve processes that impact product quality
- Participate in design reviews to ensure manufacturability and quality requirements are met
- Develop and implement product and process quality controls for fabrication operations
- Conduct internal audits and support ISO 9001 compliance activities
- Lead root cause analysis, failure investigations, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)
- Analyze in‑process, final inspection, and field failure data to drive preventive solutions
- Evaluate fabrication processes to reduce defects, rework, and inspection reliance
- Develop and maintain quality audit tools, inspection plans, and work instructions
- Train production teams on product requirements, inspection methods, and test equipment
- Perform cost‑of‑quality analysis and report trends to management
- Interface with customers on quality concerns, corrective actions, and performance metrics
- Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, SPC, and problem‑solving tools
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong collaboration and relationship‑building skills in a manufacturing environment
- Clear verbal and written communication skills; able to work effectively on the shop floor
- Strong process analysis, documentation, and problem‑solving capabilities
- Experience using statistical tools for quality analysis and process control
- Ability to balance technical expertise with influence and change management
- Comfortable making data‑driven decisions in a fast‑paced fabrication setting
Education & Experience
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field
Preferred
- Experience in an engineered‑to‑order or fabricated products manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of welding, machining, or metal fabrication processes
- Experience with continuous improvement tools (SPC, root cause analysis, FMEA)
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification
- Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles
