The State of Connecticut, Department of Developmental Services (DDS) has a vacant Qualified Craft Worker (QCW) HVACR position located within the Maintenance Unit of the DDS Fiscal Division, based out of Meriden. 

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

  • LOCATION: Meriden, CT
  • SHIFT: Full-time | first shift | 37.5 hours per week
  • SCHEDULE: 7:00AM – 3:00PM, Monday through Friday
  • NOTE: Scheduling flexibility is required to meet the needs of the job.

YOUR ROLE

In this role, you will provide significant support for the ongoing maintenance and oversight of nineteen (19) Community Living Arrangements (CLAs), including three (3) respite homes, and four (4) office buildings. There are extensive HVAC and mechanical maintenance needs required throughout the region. The QCW HVAC technician plays a key role in ensuring compliance with licensing regulations and the requirements of the State Fire Marshal’s Office. 

This position is necessary to carry out a wide range of specialized tasks, including the installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. The position also addresses routine and emergency maintenance needs. Furthermore, the QCW HVAC technician contributes to energy efficiency efforts, cost control, and sustainability by ensuring systems operate at optimal performance levels. In addition, this position will also involve snow removal duties during both regular time and after hours as required.
