Nurse Practitioner Psych

You will have responsibilities including but not limited to:

Meet the medical assessment and treatment needs of each resident 

Provides safety assessment for withdrawal symptoms or other potentially life-threatening behavior or conditions within 24 hours of admissions 

Notifies on call physician of immediate crisis 

Provide peer to peer reviews to managed care companies and other healthcare entities 

Conclude a medical assessment within 7 days of admission and a full history and physical, when necessary, within 21/45 days of admission 

Conduct a medical assessment of physical and mental health conditions and medical treatment to stabilize and then enable the resident to manage chronic health and mental health conditions including treatment of physical health conditions that are routine  

REQUIRED EDUCATION 

Successful completion of an approved nurse practitioner or physician assistant program. 

Current approval by the joint Board of Medical Examiners and Board of Nursing to perform medical acts. 

Must be currently licensed as a registered nurse in the state. 

Because of the nature of responsibilities, it is preferable to have experience in counseling and teaching and have a master's degree.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE 

Qualified by training, education, and experience in providing medical care and assessment, in collaboration with a physician, to chemically addicted residents and residents withdrawing from alcohol and or drugs 

Three Years related experience 

Bilingual preferred. 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

This job operates in an indoor medical clinical environment.  This role also routinely meets patients who may have contagious illnesses.  Appropriate PPE will be provided and required.
