Camp Kamaji is hiring nursing students to work alongside our Health Center team in a traditional sleepaway summer camp setting. You’ll gain real-world experience in assessment, medication administration, communication, and independent decision-making—all while working with a supportive RN and leadership team.
This is a fast-paced, people-centered role where you’ll build confidence, clinical judgment, and practical skills you won’t get in a classroom and can't get yet working in a clinical/hospital setting.

What You’ll Do
- Assist in daily operations of the camp Health Center (called "Club Med")
- Administer medications and treatments under RN supervision
- Conduct camper/staff health screenings
- Monitor and care for patients in the Health Center
- Maintain accurate and confidential health records
- Communicate with families when campers are seen for care
- Support health and safety practices across camp
- Help train staff on basic first aid, CPR, and wellness practices
- Be a visible, approachable presence for campers and staff
Who This Is For
- Nursing Students (preferably 3rd year or beyond but not required)
- Experience working with children (camp experience a plus)
- CNA, LPN, Associate’s in Nursing, or relevant healthcare experience
- Current CPR & First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain-offered as part of our training)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
- High level of confidentiality, discretion, and professionalism
- Calm, level-headed, and able to respond effectively in urgent situations
- Willingness to live on-site and fully participate in camp life
- Students interested in pediatrics, community health, school nursing, or camp nursing
- Individuals who are responsible, adaptable, and calm under pressure
- Those who want real responsibility—not just shadowing
Preferred Qualifications
- Enrollment in a nursing program (BSN or ADN)
- CPR & First Aid certified (or willing to obtain; offered as part of position)
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Willingness to live on-site and fully engage in camp life
Essential Skills
- Experience working with patients in the healthcare field
- Experience working with children
- Ability to live on-site for 10 weeks of the summer
- Patience, Motivated, Good Team member and communicator
- Ability to traverse uneven, wood-chipped paths by foot
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to receive during staff training
- Trustworthy and ability to maintain confidentiality
