Position Overview: What do we need?
The Development and Accounting Assistant works with development and accounting staff, and others across the organization, to support multi-channel fundraising, responsible for data maintenance, donation acknowledgements, and entry standards, runs reports and provides analysis, and develops policies and procedures for donor and prospect data management and integrity. The Assistant will help with accounting functions as needed with an emphasis on accounts payable.
The Assistant will use their subject matter expertise to oversee the day-to-day administration of our data management system(s). The seamless functioning of our donor database is critical to helping us achieve our mission. This position will support special events planning and day-of operations. This person must possess strong technical, organizational, and interpersonal skills. This position will work closely with the Council administrative support team with day-to-day operations, including answering phones, cover the front desk, and provide in person customer support and other tasks as assigned.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Maintain development office gift records:
- Work in Blackbaud CRM and other databases to maintain and update records.
- Oversee and update the gift database, including:
- Process gifts daily.
- Prepare daily cash receipt journals, donor receipts, matching gifts, pledge reminders, event progress reports, and provide back up to the accounting department.
- Prepare and send gift acknowledgment letter, tax receipts for each donation.
- Organizational Support:
- Create and update queries and produce mailing lists.
- Provide phone coverage and office support for the organization, including front desk coverage and in person customer support.
- Attend and support major events and committees as assigned.
- Assist with Accounting Functions as needed with emphasis on Account Payable.
- Responsible for ensuring that assigned tasks are completed in compliance with various organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Always maintain a professional and courteous attitude towards co-workers, internal and external customers, representing Seneca Waterways Council, Scouting America, its programs, policies, and procedures in a positive and professional manner. Maintain effective working relationships to ensure institution-wide teamwork.
- Attend provided/necessary training and other meetings to support effectiveness within the position as required.
- Regular and reliable attendance is expected and required.

Education:
- Associate’s degree or equivalent 2-year college education and work experience.
Position Qualifications/Minimum Requirements:
- Experience in database management, accounting and/or financial operations, data entry and report generation.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and MS Word, including the use of mail merge and forms.
- Experience using Blackbaud CRM database a plus.
- Ability to work independently, plan and organize tasks efficiently.
- Accurate data entry and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Always understand and behave with a high level of integrity and complete confidentiality.
- Ability to work under pressure with a high tolerance for interruptions, and the ability to work with diverse groups of people.
Job Type: Full-time (37.5 hours/week)
Schedule: 7.5 hours daily, 9am–5pm; Monday to Friday
Pay range: $38,000 - $40,000

Compensation for this full-time position (37.5 hours per week) includes an hourly wage of $18.00 to $22.00 per hour based on qualifications, experience, and references.
