Role Description:
Be a part of the first class of leaders in Chico State's new diversity centers! Edit The central mission of each center is to provide a welcoming and supportive space for programming on a broad range of social justice issues, where students can learn about their identity, academic and professional opportunities, and trends affecting specific BIPOC communities. Students will be chosen as staff based on their proven leadership experience, the potential to contribute to the mission and development of the individual centers, and their understanding of best practices in the retention and graduation of BIPOC students.
Description of Duties:
Serve as a trusted student leader within the Black Resource Center, including acting as a point of contact and assuming lead responsibility for center operations in the absence of professional staff.
Partner with the Program Coordinator to co-plan and implement the Black Resource Center's programming calendar for the academic year, including signature events, cultural programming, and community-centered initiatives.
Take the lead in designing, coordinating, and executing high-impact programs, including large-scale events, cross-campus collaborations, and initiatives that support Black student success, belonging, and retention.
Support the facilitation and ongoing implementation of leadership and student development programs within the Black Resource Center, ensuring strong participant engagement and program continuity.
Mentor and provide day-to-day guidance to student staff and Cultural Programmers, supporting their growth in event planning, leadership development, communication, and community engagement.
Demonstrate strong knowledge of campus resources, policies, and procedures in order to effectively support students and serve as a reliable resource within the center.
Assist in coordinating diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, including data collection, assessment, and reporting to help strengthen programming and student outcomes.
Represent the Black Resource Center across campus and within the broader community by engaging with students, staff, faculty, and community partners; help build and maintain meaningful partnerships.
Attend all required trainings, staff meetings, programs, and relevant campus committees. Please note that some events may take place during evenings and weekends.
Maintain a minimum semester GPA of 3.0.
Minimum Qualifications:
A minimum grade point average of 3.0 for graduate students. *Optional: If your grade point average is below the requested number, please provide a letter sharing anything you would like the selection committee to consider.
Demonstrate previous leadership experience and/or involvement in diversity programming.
Effective oral and written communication skills are highly desirable.
Ability to effectively work in a team/group environment.
Desire personal growth and possess the openness to be challenged in your journey in leadership.

All work must be performed within the State of California.
Compliance training completion (approx. 4 hours of work time) is required of this position within the first 30 days of work.
