Outdoor Adventure Counselor

Summer Camp Outdoor Adventure Counselor

Location: Naples, Maine

Dates of Employment: June 12 – August 13, 2026

Compensation: Starting at $400 per week (based on experience)

Position Overview
Camp Takajo is seeking motivated, responsible, and energetic college students to join our Outdoor Adventure team for the summer. This position offers the opportunity to serve as a mentor, instructor, and role model while leading engaging outdoor programming in a dynamic camp environment.

This role is also available as a paid internship, providing hands-on experience in leadership, outdoor education, youth development, and program management.

We prefer candidates who have completed at least one year of college or have equivalent experience working with children or in outdoor leadership settings.

Key Responsibilities
• Teach and lead classes in outdoor adventure skills
• Facilitate activities including backpacking, rock climbing, climbing wall instruction, and ropes course programming
• Supervise and support campers in both instructional and residential settings
• Promote safety, teamwork, and skill development in all activities
• Serve as a positive role model and active member of the camp community

Training and Certifications
Camp Takajo provides comprehensive on-site training for outdoor adventure staff. Certifications include CPR, First Aid, Wilderness First Response, and the Maine Youth Trip Leader Guide license.

About Camp Takajo
Camp Takajo is a premier overnight summer camp located on Long Lake in Naples, Maine. Our 150-acre campus includes expansive playing fields, wooded areas, and waterfront access. We serve campers ages 7–15 from across the country and offer programs in athletics, aquatics, arts, and outdoor adventure.

Each summer, we run over 100 out-of-camp trips and utilize the surrounding natural environment, including the nearby White Mountain National Forest, to deliver a high-level outdoor experience.
