Youth Services Summer Program Assistant

 

Status: Part-time, Seasonal, Hourly

Reports To:  Youth Services Manager 
Compensation: $15-$18/hour

 

Westminster Neighborhood Services (WNS) is a community center providing a food pantry, soup kitchen and youth programming to empower neighbors and strengthen youth and families on the Near Eastside of Indianapolis. We are seeking dynamic staff to support our summer program for youth in rising grades 3-6.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with students through daily conversation and quality interactions.
  • Act as a positive role model, providing emotional and social support to students.
  • Help students establish conflict resolution skills and create healthy friendships.
  • Provide opportunities for students to participate successfully and enjoy all aspects of the program experience.
  • Be a trusted figure who is consistent, fair, and follows through when redirecting behavior.
  • Organize, lead, and manage groups and individuals in planned activities.
  • Help to keep a safe environment by adhering to all safety protocols and procedures.
  • Assume responsibility for the health and well-being of the students entrusted to your care.
  • Actively supervise students during all day aspects including arrival, departure, field trips, meals, academic enrichment, program partners, transitions, and play.
  • Maintain accurate records, including daily attendance, incident reports, and student dietary restrictions or allergies.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Must be a high school graduate.
  • Previous experience working with children that have prepared you for this role.
  • Can confidently organize and lead large groups of children in activities with the ability to think on your feet when things don’t go as planned.
  • Be a self-starter and can jump in without being prompted
  • Must work well with diverse populations.
  • Committed to the mission, vision, and core values of WNS.
  • Must be willing to complete CPR and First Aid training.
  • Must be willing to submit to and pass a criminal history/background check and drug test.
  • Ability to drive mini bus (have a current driver’s license and be over the age of 25) a plus, but not required.

 

Schedule: May 26, 2026-July 22, 2026

Monday-Friday 

30-35 hours per week
