The Telemetry Research Unit (TRU) is a collaborative team working on technical studies of telemetered water monitoring and supporting data system improvement under the project Updating Water Rights Data (UPWARD). TRU is seeking one Environmental Scientist (ES) to perform day-to-day project coordination and contract management duties for ongoing and planned field studies. The ES coordinates project tasks, tracks progress, identifies routine issues, and elevates complex or high-level decisions to the supervisor. The position supports telemetry implementation, contractor oversight, documentation development, and communication with internal and external partners. The ES works collaboratively with multidisciplinary staff and contributes to consistent, accurate execution of telemetry related projects that support real time water monitoring and statewide data modernization initiatives. The ES must work independently, think creatively, communicate effectively, and collaborate with interested parties and interdisciplinary teams.

This position is located at 1001 I Street, 14th Floor, Sacramento, CA 95814, right in the heart of downtown next to light rail stations and other public transportation. This position is required by current policy to work in the Sacramento office twice a week and as required by the supervisor. Other work days are eligible for telework, conditional on supervisor approval and are subject to change based on operational needs or department changes.
