About the Role

At Tire Rack, technology powers the customer’s experience. We are seeking a Web Development Intern who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow within a fast-paced e-commerce environment.

In this role, you will support the development and maintenance of Tire Rack managed websites while gaining hands-on experience with modern web technologies. Projects will be exploratory in nature and expose you to multiple areas of web development including SEO, accessibility, security, analytics, user experience, and performance optimization.

You will collaborate with experienced engineers, quality assurance specialists, and project stakeholders while building foundational skills in Java, JavaScript, ReactJS, and database technologies.

This internship is ideal for a computer science student looking to gain real-world development experience while contributing to meaningful technology projects.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and maintain code for Tire Rack managed websites using Java (JSP & Servlets), JavaScript, jQuery, and ReactJS
  • Support development projects related to SEO, accessibility, analytics, security, and user experience
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance teams to develop testing plans and ensure code quality
  • Assist with troubleshooting web application issues and resolving defects
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation for development processes and solutions
  • Work closely with teammates and department managers to receive feedback and guidance
  • Update project management systems regularly with task progress and completion status
  • Participate in team discussions, problem-solving sessions, and development planning

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with object-oriented programming languages such as Java or C++
  • Familiarity with JSP/J2EE, REST APIs, JavaScript/jQuery, ReactJS, GitHub, and Linux
  • Coursework in relational database principles and SQL
  • Ability to read and make basic HTML edits
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, or similar tools

Education

Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.

 

Work Schedule

Work Days:
Monday through Friday. Occasional weekends may be required depending on project needs.

Work Hours:
Standard hours are 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Some schedule flexibility may be available with manager approval. Additional hours may be required during project deadlines.

Local travel may occasionally be required.
