Business Analyst (FP&A) Fellow

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

Business Analyst (FP&A) Fellow supports the General and Administrative Operations team, gaining comprehensive exposure to the inner workings of a nonprofit arts organization. This role collaborates with Finance, Human Resources, IT, and Facilities, focusing on data analysis and reporting across multiple departments in order to drive productivity and performance. The Fellow contributes to projects that inform organizational decision-making and compliance, including audits, turnover metrics, demographic reporting, financial analysis, and grant reporting. The Fellow provides operational and financial analysis that advises decision-making.   

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

include but are not limited to the following. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

  • Collect, organize, and analyze data for Finance, HR, IT, and Facilities teams that support organizational projects to enhance performance and productivity.
  • Prepare reports for audits, workforce turnover, demographics, and grant compliance.
  • Support financial analysis and assist with budget-related data projects, including monthly budget variances, reforecasting, and annual budgeting process.
  • Collaborate with IT to maintain data integrity and streamline reporting processes.
  • Assist HR with workforce analytics and demographic metrics.
  • Provide ad hoc data analysis for other departments as needed.
  • Contribute to organizational dashboards and performance metrics.
  • Ensure confidentiality and accuracy in all data handling.
  • Partner with Academy, Advancement, and Community Engagement teams to provide data insights for audience engagement, donor trends, and program impact.
  • Compile and analyze data for grant applications and reporting, ensuring compliance with funder requirements.
  • Assist in creating dashboards that track organizational performance and risk management.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows between departments.
  • Work with IT to implement or optimize data management systems and ensure accurate reporting across platforms.
  • Help monitor compliance metrics and prepare reports for audits and regulatory filings.
  • Help prepare data summaries and visualizations for leadership meetings and board presentations.
  • Contribute to organizational initiatives such as sustainability efforts, DEI reporting, and strategic planning by providing data insights.
  • Develop guides or training materials to help staff interpret and use data effectively.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:

Educational or practical experience in Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, Economics, Statistics, Math, Business Analytics, or a related field, with strong analytical and quantitative skills. Proficiency in Excel and data visualization tools required. Ability to communicate data and insights clearly to diverse stakeholders. Commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity, and access and interest in working for an arts organization.  Highly organized, able to manage multiple projects and deadlines, and comfortable collaborating across departments. Familiarity with financial analysis, budgeting, and HR or financial systems is a plus.

 

 WORK SCHEDULE:

Weekly hours will generally be within the range of 9:00am to 5pm Monday through Friday at Joffrey Tower, with some evening and weekend hours as required for meetings and to meet deadlines.

 

APPLICABLE PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES:

General mobility in office areas. Ability to lift 20 lbs. Ability to operate data processing and other office equipment. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
