Civil Engineering Intern

The Village of Vernon Hills is seeking self-motivated individuals with a strong work ethic to fill a Civil Engineering Intern position in the Engineering and Public Works Department. This position will work 40 hours per week, generally between 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, during the summer months. The duration of the internship shall correspond with college summer break (start and end dates are flexible). This position is performed predominantly in the field outdoors, occasionally in adverse weather conditions; with extensive walking; but will include office time as well.

The Civil Engineering Intern will work under the general direction of the Public Works Director/Village Engineer and will assist in performing a wide variety of civil and municipal engineering related functions, including evaluating pavement conditions, construction inspections, resident communication, drainage utility investigation, contractor coordination, traffic studies, clerical work, and any other related tasks.
