About The Shore and Country Club
Founded in 1908, The Shore and Country Club is a premier private waterfront club located on an eight-acre peninsula extending into Norwalk Harbor. Serving 481 member families, the Club is rooted in a tradition of excellence and a strong commitment to hospitality — creating meaningful experiences for members of all ages.
Our facilities include a 25-yard freshwater pool, children’s pool, 10 tennis courts, a 98-slip marina, and a newly constructed beach house with open-air waterfront dining. Youth programming is a cornerstone of our summer season, bringing energy and community to the Club through Junior Sailing, Tennis, Swim & Dive, and daily children’s activities.
Brief Job Description
The Shore and Country Club is seeking motivated, energetic, and enthusiastic future leaders to participate in our Youth Activities Internship program. This program provides hands-on experience supervising and coordinating youth programming within a dynamic private club setting.
Interns will rotate between Junior Sailing, Tennis, and Swim & Dive programs, gaining broad exposure to youth recreation management across multiple departments. This rotation allows interns to understand scheduling, communication with parents and members, event coordination, activity planning, and daily operational oversight.
Interns will assist in supervising activities, organizing themed events and competitions, supporting instructors and coaches, and ensuring that programs are delivered safely, efficiently, and with a high level of hospitality. Creativity, initiative, and the ability to bring energy to every interaction are essential in this role.
This internship is ideal for candidates interested in youth activities management, recreation leadership, or private club operations.
Qualifications
- Currently studying Hospitality, Hospitality Management, Recreation, Sports Management, or related field.
- Experience working with children is preferred.
- A team player who is hospitality-oriented with a strong work ethic.
- Professional, enthusiastic, and a positive attitude.
- Excellent communication skills.
The position requires standing or walking for extended periods of time, use of hands and fingers, and the ability to reach, climb, bend, twist, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
