2026 Summer AI Internship: AI Strategy & Implementation Intern

AI Internship: AI Strategy & Implementation Intern

We are looking for an AI-savvy intern to help our team find simple, practical ways to use AI in our day-to-day B2B work. You don’t need to be an AI expert or a programmer. We want someone who already uses tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Groc, Agents, or similar, and is curious about how they can make office work easier and faster.

You will act as an internal guide and “consultant,” working with different team members to understand their tasks and suggest AI-based improvements.

What we can promise you is that you will work on real problems, you will be a part of a team, you will be exposed to other parts of our company, and you will always be a part of the Laitram family (no matter where you go after your internship).

Laitram is comprised of four operating divisions - Intralox, Laitram Machinery, Lapeyre Stair, and Laitram Machine Shop. We employ more than 3,900 people worldwide and have 23 offices in 10 countries. Laitram has continually been recognized for innovation and workplace excellence.  Laitram is a vibrant, forward-thinking privately held company that brings innovation, integrity, and continuous improvement to every aspect of our work.

Intralox, a division of Laitram, is the world’s leading global conveyance solutions provider filing 25 original US patent claims each year and offering direct service for a broad range of industries in more than 100 countries. We specialize in innovative technologies that have driven organic growth for a generation from $60 million to $1 billion and counting. Our products, combined with a powerful blend of expertise, services and global support, allow our customers to experience our uncompromising commitment to providing solutions that create lasting value.

We listen objectively, think creatively, and deliver results.  To learn more about our company culture, philosophy, and benefits, please visit our company page.

Location: New Orleans

Key Responsibilities

Process Auditing: Shadowing different departments (Sales, Accounting, Marketing, Operations) to identify repetitive manual tasks that could be streamlined using Generative AI. Talk with team members to understand their daily tasks and pain points.

Gap Analysis: Identifying where the team is currently losing time and proposing AI-driven solutions to reclaim those hours.

Tool Evaluation: Proposing B2B-focused AI to see which fits the company’s specific needs. (No need for implementation). Test and document simple AI workflows and use cases for the team.

Acting as the go-to person for teammates who are struggling to get the desired output from AI tools. Create basic how-to guides, prompt examples, and short checklists for using AI in the office.

Proof of Concept (PoC): Building small-scale "experiments" to show how an AI workflow could solve a specific bottleneck, such as automating lead qualification or drafting RFP responses.

Requirements

Tech-Fluent but People-Oriented: They don't necessarily need to be a computer science major, but they must be an "early adopter" who can explain technical concepts to non-technical staff.  Regular user of AI tools.

Strong interest in productivity, automation, and working smarter.

Analytical Mindset: Someone who enjoys looking at a workflow and asking, "Why do we do it this way, and can a machine do the heavy lifting?" Curious, proactive, and willing to learn new tools quickly.

Strong Communication: Since they will be acting as a consultant, they need to be comfortable interviewing stakeholders and presenting their findings. Comfortable talking with people, asking questions, and explaining ideas clearly.

Studying or recently graduated in Business, Communications, IT, Engineering, or a related field is a plus, but not required.

If you enjoy experimenting with AI, helping people, and finding smarter ways to work, we’d love to hear from you.
