Social Media Intern
Are you a creative, motivated student looking to gain real-world experience managing social media for an educational brand?
We’re looking for a Social Media Intern to help grow our presence across platforms, create engaging content, and learn practical skills in digital marketing and content creation. This is an unpaid internship offered exclusively for academic credit; interns must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and registered for a credit or zero-credit internship/practicum experience.
Internship Structure & Time Commitment
- Approximately 20 hours per week (flexible based on academic needs)
- Flexible scheduling aligned with the student’s academic calendar
- Fully remote and can be asynchronous, with scheduled mentorship check-ins
- Internship dates are flexible; start and end dates are determined in coordination with the intern
This internship complements academic coursework and is intended to provide practical experience related to the student’s field of study. Interns can focus on one platform (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, or Pinterest) or explore multiple, based on interest and learning goals.
What You Can Learn & Do
The responsibilities listed below are examples of projects you may explore during your internship. Specific tasks and focus areas will be discussed and tailored to align with your interests, strengths, and academic goals.
Content Creation & Video Production
- Produce short videos and social media clips
- Develop captions, hooks, and visual storytelling techniques
- Collaborate with others or source contributors to help create content
- Practice video editing and platform-specific optimizations
Visual & Graphic Design
- Create listing images, graphics, and Pinterest pins
- Repurpose existing content into engaging social media posts
- Learn to maintain brand consistency across platforms
Strategy & Engagement
- Research trends, hashtags, and audience preferences
- Learn about analytics and content performance
- Practice ethical marketing and community engagement
- Assist with planning and scheduling posts
Professional Skills
- Receive structured feedback on all content
- Build a portfolio of published work
- Gain hands-on experience in digital communication and marketing
- Develop skills in time management and content strategy
Mentorship & Supervision
Interns will receive:
- Ongoing supervision and mentorship from the founder
- Constructive written and verbal feedback
- Guidance on professional communication and content development
- Opportunities for reflection connecting internship tasks to academic learning objectives
- The internship environment is collaborative and designed to encourage questions, experimentation, and skill development.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled college or university student
- Eligible to receive academic credit for the internship
- Strong written communication skills
- Interest in education, entrepreneurship, or digital communications
- Organized, proactive, and open to feedback
- Familiarity with Canva, Adobe, and video editing preferred
- Familiarity with Google Workspace preferred
- Prior experience is preferred but not required
- Personal projects/volunteer experiences (such as running your own Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, or Facebook page) are considered valuable experience!
