Audiologist

The Audiologist is responsible for evaluating, treating, and counseling the pediatric, adult, or geriatric patient with hearing disorder in accordance with professional and corporate quality standards.  The Audiologist is responsible for the assessment, fitting and follow-up to patients newborn to adult, needing amplification.   They will be required to be current on all technology and assistive systems available to the hearing impaired.  Must maintain certification and for hearing aid dispensing.

Responsibilities

Conducts hearing and balance evaluations for inpatients and outpatients, including neonates, pediatric patients, adolescents, adults and geriatric patients, and assesses the history, medical diagnosis, social, and communicative condition of the patient though testing and interview to establish a basis for patient treatment.

Determines patient’s perceptual and communicative needs and formulates, implements, and measures the efficacy of an audiological rehabilitation treatment plan for infants to adults.

Demonstrates effective customer relation skills, promotes a positive work environment, Supports the team concept among all staff; participate in mutual problem solving to achieve positive outcomes and improve quality of services; documents incidents of a critical nature; participates in departmental meetings and initiatives.

Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for self-development and enhancement of professional competency through self-study, on the job training, and attending professional meetings.

Participates in quality monitoring and evaluation activities and implements measures to ensure hospital, JCAHO, and other quality standards are met.

Documents encounters and generates written reports that are accurate, timely, clear, and succinct.

Participates in performing office work as needed, including: placing supply orders, preparing marketing projects, receiving payments, and filing.

Education/Accredited Programs

Required:  Doctorate Degree (AuD) in Audiology or fourth year student in externship program

No clinical experience needed

Knowledge of audiology methods and techniques in one or more specialty areas

Knowledge of current hearing aid technology/design and programming

Licenses/Certifications/Registrations

  • NYS Licenses- Audiologist
  • NYS registration- Hearing Aid Dealer
  • CPR (or within 6 months)
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License for travel between sites for the provision of care and meetings

Skills/Abilities

Operate, test and repair equipment

Operate computer equipment

Use software for hearing aid fitting and databases, word processing, and scheduling programs

Interact well with people

Salary Range
The expected base rate for this Glens Falls, New York, United States-based position is $36.06 to $54.09. Exact rate is determined on a case-by-case basis commensurate with experience level, as well as education and certifications pertaining to each position which may be above the listed job requirements.
