Summer Camp Nature Specialist

Position: Summer Camp Nature Specialist
 

Job Summary:
HealthBarn USA is looking for an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and passionate individual to join our summer camp team as a Nature Specialist. This role is designed for someone who is passionate about the outdoors and dedicated to educating children about nature and environmental sustainability. As a Nature Specialist, you will lead and teach children through nature-based activities, environmental education, and hands-on experiences that connect them to the earth.

Key Responsibilities:

-Lead nature-based educational activities and programs for children, including outdoor exploration, observation, and creature identification.

-Organize and lead nature walks, hikes, and outdoor excursions to explore local ecosystems and natural surroundings.

-Foster a love of nature and environmental responsibility by teaching campers about the importance of preserving the environment and the surrounding habitats.

-Incorporate sustainability practices into daily camp activities, such as recycling, minimizing waste, and energy conservation.

-Help manage the camp's natural spaces (e.g., garden plots, nature trails, and green areas) and educate campers on their upkeep and importance.

-Serve as a role model for environmental awareness, teamwork, and responsible outdoor behavior.

 

Qualifications:

-Strong passion for nature, environmental education, and sustainability.

-Experience working with children in an outdoor setting or camp environment.

-Ability to create fun, engaging, and educational nature-based programs and activities.

-Ability to motivate, inspire, and engage children in outdoor learning and exploration.

-Physical stamina and the ability to work in outdoor conditions, including being active in various weather conditions.

-Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

-CPR and First Aid certification (or willing to obtain prior to the start of camp).

 

Preferred Skills:

A background or coursework in environmental education, biology, ecology, or a related field.

Experience with gardening, outdoor adventure activities, or nature-based programs.

 

Work Schedule:

Part-time during the summer camp season (June through August).

Monday through Friday, with hours generally from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM (varies depending on camp schedule).

 

SALARY:

This is a paid position. Starting at $18 - $22/hour commensurate with experience.
