NASPO Procurement Intern – Summer 2026

Role Overview:
Join our team as a Summer Intern to gain hands-on experience with the State of Iowa, Department of Administrative Services Central Procurement team. You will support the lifecycle of state contracts, from system optimization to vendor relationship management, while learning the regulatory frameworks that ensure transparency and fiscal responsibility.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • eProcurement System Review: Support automation and digital transformation by reviewing system data, identifying process improvements, and assisting with the rollout of new features or user guides.
  • Vendor Management: Help maintain and update vendor files, assist in reviewing vendor submittals for accuracy and compliance.
  • Procurement Assistance: Help develop Requests for Bids (RFBs), gather market research, and assist in evaluating bids for goods and services.
  • Data & Reporting: Gather data for state reporting and perform data entry in contract tracking systems.
  • Solicitation Support: Assist with the evaluation of quotes, bids, and proposals. Help document award recommendations and maintain official procurement files from requisition to receipt.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student in Business, Public Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data entry, filters) and a high comfort level learning within digital platforms.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written skills for professional correspondence with vendors and agency staff.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to accurately review complex contract documents and maintain organized electronic records.

Program Details:

  • Duration: Typically 10–12 weeks during the summer
  • Pay: $18.00/hour
