Medical Assistant/Receptionist
Job Summary:
The Medical Assistant provides non-clinical coordination and clinical support tasks to assist the nursing team (APRN’s, PMHNP, MD, DNP) in delivering high-quality, member-centered care. This role focuses on medication profile intake, records and referrals coordination, provider notifications, and precise documentation in our systems. No independent clinical judgment is performed in this role. This position requires excellent communication and organizational skills, the ability to interact with all levels of Serene Health's staff, and a wide range of external contacts.
Responsibilities:
Take and record vital signs, patient history, and other relevant medical information for three medication management providers
Assist physicians and other healthcare providers during assessment, sessions, phone calls and any other necessary duties and responsibilities.
Administer medications or injections under the direction of the healthcare provider. Example - Long acting injections for Mental health conditions
Ensure patient comfort and provide emotional support as needed.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic health records (EHR) for patients.
Manage front desk, greet clients, and manage office supplies.
Schedule appointments and manage patient check-in and check-out processes.
Schedule follow up appointments to ensure continuity of care for patient well-being.
Verify patient insurance information and handle billing and coding as required.
Assist in managing inventory and ordering medical supplies (If needed)
Follow strict protocols for infection control and maintain a clean and sterile environment.
Educate patients on infection control measures and proper hygiene.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of a recognized Medical Assistant program (Preferred).
Current certification as a Medical Assistant. (Required)
CPR certification.
2+ years of experience working as a Medical Assistant in a healthcare setting.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) and medical software.
Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical procedures.
Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and privacy.
Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all tasks.
A compassionate and caring approach to patient care.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at an office desk on the computer.
Lifting: Able to lift up to 15lbs.
