Teacher for D/HH and B/VI
Job Description
We are seeking qualified contract teachers to support students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing (D/HH) and/or Blind or Visually Impaired (B/VI) in a school-based setting. This role provides specialized instructional and consultative support in alignment with students’ IEPs and works collaboratively with school staff and special education teams.
Responsibilities
Provide direct instructional support to D/HH and/or B/VI students
Adapt instructional materials to meet student access needs
Support communication, accessibility, and classroom participation
Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and related service providers
Participate in IEP meetings and maintain required documentation
Travel between school sites as needed (itinerant assignments)
Qualifications
Valid teaching certification as a:
Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (D/HH), and/or
Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI / B-VI)
Maryland certification or eligibility preferred
Experience working with students with disabilities in a school setting
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Preferred (not required)
ASL proficiency (for D/HH roles)
Braille and assistive technology experience (for B/VI roles)
Prior contract or itinerant teaching experience
Schedule & Compensation
Flexible, part-time or contract-based assignments
Competitive hourly or contract rates, based on experience and certification
