Hiring Range: $72,466 - $97,827

Who We Are:
Mental Health Support Services (MHSS) is the provider of mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorder services for children and adults in Chesterfield County. The Access Services team has been highly successful in providing immediate access to services within our agency as well as linking persons to resources in the community. Minimum Education and Experience:
Master’s degree in human services or related field; three years of experience related to assigned program; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Virginia counseling licensure preferred. Those candidates with verbal and written fluency in both English and Spanish are encouraged to apply.
 
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Considerable knowledge and understanding of fundamental concepts of normal and abnormal human behavior, personality development, family and group dynamics; considerable knowledge of and an ability to apply a variety of psychotherapeutic treatment techniques/modalities; adherence to basic ethics appropriate for a professional helping relationship; knowledge of mental health diagnoses, assessment, and/or psychological and educational testing; some knowledge of consultation program; considerable knowledge of psychosocial history development; very good interviewing and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing. Computer proficiency skills; working knowledge of electronic health record systems. Demonstrated ability to lead others. Working knowledge of mental health services and resources preferred; ability to work well on a team that serves a diverse consumer population preferred.
 
Additional Requirements
Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:
 
 • Completes initial comprehensive needs assessments for consumers of varied ages, who presents to our agency seeking mental health, substance use, or case management services;
 
 • Provides community resources to consumers as needed;
 
 • Maintains client records in a timely, accurate and professional manner within an electronic health record in accordance with state licensure, Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS), and Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) standards of practice;
 
 • Formulates a clinical impression and initial diagnosis based on the assessment findings;
 
 • Stays up to date with current and new research and best practices in mental health;
 
 • Interfaces with internal and external providers, agencies and stakeholders; and
 
 • Performs other work as required.
