Environmental Field Intern

Nova Environmental is looking for interns for Summer 2026. ALL training and personal protective equipment is provided. Duties include the collection/analysis of air samples and general oversight of asbestos abatement projects within facilities throughout the State of Michigan. Primarily K-12 Public and Private Schools. We work all over the state of Michigan.  This position requires you to be able to manage your time, complete tasks without constant supervision, and effectively prioritize and structure your work using organizational tools and methods.

 Candidates must have a reliable vehicle, proof of insurance, valid driver's license, and be available nights and weekends. The rate of pay is $20.00/hour with time and a half for all hours over 40 per week. 40-hour weeks are NOT guaranteed. You will also receive compensation for phone and mileage. The position's responsibilities are as follows:

1. Oversee the entire project and remain on-site throughout the duration of the abatement project;

2. Assuring the contractor and its employees comply with all applicable, regulatory guidelines;

3. Ensure that the project specifications are being followed accordingly for that particular project;

4. Collect and analyze air samples on-site (this includes setting up a “mini” lab with a PCM microscope);

5. Filling out daily paperwork precisely on the status/results of the project;

We DO NOT remove any materials; we oversee the projects. This is a position that is in the construction field and not an office job.  Construction site attire (blue jeans, t-shirts, steel-toe boots, and hard hats) is required.

Minimum Qualifications Include: 

·        Valid driver's license

·        Ability to travel out of town

·        Ability to carry 50 pounds

·        Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) 

·        Ability to learn material and pass exams for applicable certifications
