Clinical Medical Assistant

We are searching for an energetic Clinical Medical Assistant to add to our Dermatology team devoted to providing excellent dermatology patient care in downtown Washington DC. The MA will support doctors and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication. The target is to complete all activities accurately, with high quality and in a timely manner. This is a great position for pre-med or pre-PA students who are taking a gap year.

 

Clinical Medical Assistant Responsibilities 

  • Greet and room patients
  • Clean and prepare patient exam rooms
  • Obtain and record patients’ medical history and reason for visit
  • Take patient photos 
  • Assist physician during examinations and common dermatology procedures/surgeries
  • Obtain patient consents prior to procedures
  • Set up for procedures, including cosmetic, surgical, and laser procedures
  • Remove sutures and provide basic wound care
  • Chart and scribe the patient encounter in the patient’s electronic medical record
  • Send prescriptions
  • Answer patient phone calls and schedule appointments
  • Call patients to inform them of lab and biopsy results
  • Complete prior authorizations, file appeals, and complete other administrative tasks as required
  • Communicate with pharmacies, insurance companies, and vendors
  • Maintain inventory of medical supplies, prepare orders, and stock rooms
  • Clean and sterilize surgical instruments
  • Ensure compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA
  • Perform other duties as assigned by providers and manager

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required); bachelor’s degree or higher (preferred)
  • Previous experience in a medical office or dermatology setting (preferred)
  • Must be a team player that is able to follow directions and eager to learn
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) and scheduling software
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and maintain accuracy under pressure
  • Professional appearance and demeanor

 

 Job Type:

  • Full-time onsite 4 days per week (5 days per week can be available under certain conditions)
  • Hours: 7:30-4:30
  • Ability to be flexible to cover as needed greatly appreciated.
