ROLE SUMMARY
The Marketing Intern (Unpaid) will support the development, execution, and monitoring of key marketing and creative efforts for the Alliance network. This role is ideal for a student interested in digital marketing, social media, education equity, community engagement, or content creation. The intern will work closely with the Marketing Manager and Director of Marketing to help strengthen our online presence, build community trust, and support family-facing communications throughout Los Angeles. The Communication Intern will be managed by the Director of Marketing and Creative.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Social Media Support (CEO Social + Alliance Corporate Accounts)
Assist with planning, drafting, scheduling, and monitoring content for Alliance corporate social media channels and the CEO’s professional social accounts.
Bring creative ideas to the table for storytelling, community engagement, and brand building.
Support execution of content plans, including graphics, captions, reels, and basic editing.
Help monitor comments, messages, and engagement to grow a positive online community for Alliance families.
Track performance and report on social media metrics in partnership with the Marketing Manager.
Email Communications Support
Assist the Director of Marketing in drafting, editing, and formatting family-facing emails (Mailchimp, SchoolMint).
Support light design and layout using Mailchimp templates.
Help QA test emails for mobile responsiveness, accessibility, and accuracy in Spanish and English.
Assist with scheduling and sending network-wide email campaigns using automation techniques.
Perform additional related duties as assigned.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university in marketing
Strong writing and editing skills
Experience and proficiency in social media and digital storytelling
Detail-oriented, organized, and proactive
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
Collaborative and open to feedback
Experience with social media tools (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn)
Familiarity with Mailchimp or similar email platforms
Basic design skills (Canva, CapCut, or similar)
Bilingual English/Spanish
WORK LOCATION
This position is an unpaid internship; however, students will receive course credit. The position is for 10–15 hours per week. In this hybrid role, students can work remotely; however, some travel may be required to our network office in DTLA and to school sites across LA County.
