Summer Internship

PASTORAL SUMMER INTERNSHIP

The Summer Internship is a pre-residency program and will focus exclusively on equipping the participants with our Theological DNA and training in pastoral responsibilities that happen in the "classroom of life." The internship gives both the participant and our leadership an opportunity to invest and determine if the intern would be a good fit in our Pastoral Residency program.

Purpose of the Summer Internship

The primary purpose of the summer internship provides an opportunity to explore if the intern is a good fit for our pastoral residency program. The secondary purpose of the internship program is to fulfill any undergraduate requirements for pastoral majors.

Equipping Process

On the Job: Our summer program will give the intern an opportunity to journey with our pastoral staff to learn about shepherding in the field. Investing in summer interns must be flexible enough to include their school requirements, while giving them firsthand experience that can only be learned in the classroom of life. The “come and see” approach helps the intern learn pastoral ministry through practicum.

In the Classroom: Theological training will focus on two main areas of practicum study:

  1. Our Gospel DNA – A course designed to focus on the implications of the gospel – justification, sanctification, and glorification. This gospel curriculum is entitled Reigning Grace or Deepen 201.
  2. Our Hermeneutical DNA – A course designed to equip the participant with biblical study tools (exegesis and hermeneutics) and a process for sermonic development in community (homiletic development).
