Lifeguard

The City of Lansing Parks & Recreation Department is looking for a Lifeguard.  This position is responsible for providing a safe, enjoyable experience for the public by maintaining a clean presentation of both the Hunter Park Pool and Alfreda Schmidt Southside Community Center Pool.

Qualifications for this position consist of: 

• Must be 15 years of age at the time of hire.
• Interested candidates must provide proof of age prior to interview selection.
• Must have the following certifications:  American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification, American Red Cross Bloodborne Pathogens Certification, and Michigan Mandated Reporter Training.
• Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate their experience and competence in oral and written communication.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Maintain order in the pool and take necessary action to prevent possible trouble or injury.
• Distribute life jackets and educate patrons on life jacket rules.
• Conduct swim tests, as needed.
