As a Summer Camp Nurse, you’ll provide essential healthcare services in a residential camp setting while working closely with campers and staff from around the world. You’ll play a key role in maintaining a safe, supportive, and healthy experience for campers and staff throughout the summer.
Role Overview
Under the direction of the Director of Health and Wellness, Summer Camp Nurses provide medical care to campers (“villagers”) and staff, supervise health center personnel, and support day-to-day health operations within a Language Village. Nurses work collaboratively with Village leadership and healthcare staff while adapting to the unique needs of a residential camp community.
This position is not language-specific and may be assigned to any Language Village.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide healthcare services to campers and staff in a residential camp environment
- Collaborate with the Director of Health and Wellness and Village Deans to support community health needs
- Maintain and document health records using an electronic medical records system
- Supervise and support Health & Wellness Interns, Health Center Assistants, Licensed Practical Nurses, and/or First Aiders
- Respond calmly and professionally to changing medical and environmental situations
- Promote health education, safety awareness, and wellness practices within the Village community

- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team
- Comfort working with children and adolescents
- Adaptability and resilience in a busy, communal environment
- Clear, compassionate communication with campers, families, and staff
Minimum Qualifications
- Current Minnesota licensure as an LPN, RN, NP, or MD
- CPR certification and experience providing first aid
- Ability to use technology, including electronic medical records systems and email
- At least 18 years of age
- Authorization to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
- Language ability or cultural assessment experience (encouraged but not required)
- Prior experience in a camp, youth program, or community health setting
