Speech and Language Pathologist (Part Time to Full Time)

Job Summary:

The Speech and Language Pathologist will provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and consultative services to students aged birth to 26 who exhibit communication disorders that adversely affect their educational performance. This role involves collaboration with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to support students' communication needs within the educational setting.

Qualifications: 

  • Valid Michigan Speech-Language Pathologist license issued by the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA).
  • Masters in Speech Language Pathology.
  • Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) candidates may be considered.

Essential Duties: 

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations to identify speech, language, voice, fluency, and pragmatic disorders.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and objectives tailored to each student's needs.
  • Deliver direct and indirect speech-language therapy services in accordance with IEPs.
  • Consult with teachers, parents, and other professionals to integrate speech and language goals into the classroom environment.
  • Actively participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, including IEP and Response to Intervention (RTI) processes.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of evaluations, therapy sessions, progress reports, and Medicaid billing, as applicable.
  • Provide training and resources to staff and families to support students' communication development.
  • Stay informed about current best practices and legal requirements in speech-language pathology and special education.
  • Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with community physicians, professionals and agencies.
  • Participate on the districts’ Autism Core Team.
  • Conduct home visits.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Regular and predictable in-person attendance is required for this position.

Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to to stand, walk, sit, talk, see and hear. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach with hands and arms. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move 35 pounds or more. Noise levels are typically moderate. Regular district travel may be required.  (Travel is reimbursable)
